GARDEN ROUTE AND KAROO SAFARI ITINERARY

The Cape of Storms, wild and treacherous, cold and unforgiving, enticingly beautiful.
Coastal gardens, Whales and Oyster Catchers, Elephant and Zebra. European Culture.
The plateaus of the Karoo, majestic and silent, rise up into the red horizon at sunset.

DAY 1
We meet at the Outback Africa Safari Lodge in Cape Town. Thereafter explore the Cape region; visiting the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Cape Point and the penguin colony near Simon's Town. Lunch will be spent overlooking the ocean whilst enjoying the local cuisine. We end the sightseeing-filled day with a visit to Table Mountain. (Cable car own expense) Tonight we dine with the Outback Africa Management and enjoy a safari briefing. B

DAY 2
After breakfast we depart on our safari. First stop is the wine capital of Africa, Stellenbosch. After exploring the historic town, we visit a wine farm in the area.
After lunch at the wine farm onto De Hoop Nature Reserve , a paradise for seasonal whale watching.
We enjoy our first camp experience, and get closer to nature. Big campfire and tall stories tonight. BD

DAY 3
Today, Oudtshoorn and the Cango Caves. En route we will stop at an Ostrich farm for lunch. Thereafter we will do a tour of the Cango Caves and travel over the Outeniqua Mountain Pass towards the coastal region of the Wilderness National Park, where we enjoy the late afternoon walks into the forests. BLD

DAY 4
A morning to explore the town of Knysna`s flea markets and many art galleries.
Visit the Heads, two sandstone cliffs that flank the entrance to the Knysna Lagoon, and thereafter the Tsitsikamma National Park. Explore the Storms River Mouth on a short but eventful hike.
The rugged coastline is a photographer's dream. BLD

DAY 5
This morning we visit Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa 's surfer's paradise. Enjoy the waves of the Indian Ocean. Thereafter it is onto the Addo Elephant National Park in search of the elephants found there. Tonight, time can be spent at the spotlit waterhole, hoping to observe the creatures of the night. BLD

DAY 6
We visit Colonial towns, admiring century old European buildings en route. Transverse great mountain ranges and over dramatic passes, to arrive at the Mountain Zebra National Park in time for lunch.
We spend the afternoon out in the wilderness, in search of the endemic zebra species. BLD

DAY 7
A special destination in the interior. The Greater Karoo, a baren land, unspoilt and uninhabited.
After setting up camp in the Karoo National Park, we enjoy walks in this unspoilt natural haven, admiring the multitude of birdlife endemic to the Karoo region.
Late afternoon we explore the reserve in our Land Rover, seeking the wildlife found herein. BLD

DAY 8
We rise with the sun and, after breakfast, we cross the Boland through God`s Vineyards and the Hex River valley making our way south down to the lodge we started our adventure.
A lodge called The Outback Africa Lodge. The tour ends upon arival in Cape Town. B
